Fire on the Landscape

  • 11007 Mull Rd Tipton, MI (map)

Prescribed fire has been a part of landscapes for as long as grass has grown. Come to discuss the role people play in spreading fire in prairies, savannas, wetlands and woodlands.  We will explore why humans burn, and what that has looked like both historically and today. With an understanding of wind patterns, fuel types and modern equipment we will explain how fires are set and controlled. Weather dependent there may be a prescribed burn demonstration following the talk. Let's talk burns, baby, burns!
