Cattail Foraging

  • 11007 Mull Rd. Tipton, MI (map)

Cattails have been called nature's supermarket. While they may not have everything you need, they do provide many different products for food and shelter over all seasons of the year. And more importantly they are fun to gather! To get the most out of cattails you have to get in to the wet and muck of ponds and swamps with the frogs and turtles. This class will teach you how to gather, process, and use this abundant and valuable plant. We will also talk about the important ecological role that cattails play in our environment.
