Ecological Restoration Series: Invasive Species:

  • 11007 Mull Rd. Tipton, MI (map)

Part Three in an ongoing series on ecological restoration. This class will explore what makes ecosystems healthy, and the role invasive species play in threatening that health. But also we'll see how invasives can act as a bridge to help us return to earth and improve our human relationship with the natural world because they get us out into the landscape for hands on, face to face interactions. We will walk to sites where biodiversity is making a comeback because of work to control invasives and we will visit areas where you can see clearly the damage that is done if we do nothing about this problem. We will also discuss the wide range of tactics that we have used for invasive control and give you some ideas for what you could do at home.
